Replacing a felt mat on a direct drive turntable with this acrylic slipmat. 1.) How is this mat at elimating static and DD platter noise?
Answer: I can’t answer for DD as mine is belt driven but I have much less static - this doesn’t eliminate it but improves it significantly for me. My vinyl sounds better since I have begun using this platter.
Mobile Pro Shop Slipmats Editorial Review
The Mobile Pro Shop Acrylic Turntable Mat improves sound quality and reduces static. It is made of acrylic, but the color is not solid and can slightly change the color of light-colored vinyl. Users should place the rough side facing upwards towards the record label. The original mat can be removed, but using both might increase height too much for proper alignment. It works with all turntables. Users have reported less static, dust, and pet hair on their records, clearer and deeper sound, and improved performance overall. Users love the green color, easy cleaning, and enhancement of sound and appearance. Complaints include slippery surface and mismatched color.
