Preguntas y respuestas de los clientes

  • Pregunta: What is Dow Corning 795 Gray Silicone Weatherseal Building Sealant used for?

Respuesta: Dow Corning 795 is a versatile silicone sealant specifically designed for building applications. It is mainly used to seal joints and connections in glass and metal, ensuring excellent adhesion and weather resistance. This makes it ideal for exterior applications, such as sealing windows, curtain walls, and other structural elements where exposure to environmental conditions is common.
  • Pregunta: Is Dow Corning 795 suitable for both indoor and outdoor use?

Respuesta: Yes, Dow Corning 795 is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Its formulation allows it to withstand extreme weather conditions while providing a flexible seal that accommodates movement in building materials. This makes it a popular choice for construction projects, whether sealing areas exposed to sun, rain, or temperature fluctuations, ensuring long-lasting performance and durability.
  • Pregunta: How long does Dow Corning 795 take to cure?

Respuesta: Dow Corning 795 typically takes around 24 hours to cure under normal conditions, although the complete curing process can take up to a week depending on humidity and temperature levels. It's essential to allow adequate curing time to achieve optimal performance, especially for outdoor applications. This curing time is crucial for developing the seal's adhesion and durability against environmental factors.
  • Pregunta: Can Dow Corning 795 be painted over?

Respuesta: Dow Corning 795 should not be painted over effectively, as silicone sealants do not adhere well to paint. If a painted finish is necessary, it’s advisable to use paintable sealants. That said, you can use the product where the final appearance will not be affected by paint, such as areas where the natural silicone color blends with the structure, keeping aesthetic integrity.
  • Pregunta: What is the shelf life of Dow Corning 795?

Respuesta: The shelf life of Dow Corning 795 is around 12 months when stored in proper conditions, specifically in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keeping the sealant in its original, unopened packaging will help maintain its efficacy. It's recommended to check the expiration date before use to ensure just the best performance and reliability.
  • Pregunta: Is Dow Corning 795 safe to use in residential areas?

Respuesta: Yes, Dow Corning 795 is safe for use in residential areas. It is formulated to be non-toxic and does not emit harmful VOCs after curing, making it a suitable choice for indoor environments. Its safety profile allows homeowners to use it confidently in various sealing applications without compromising indoor air quality.
  • Pregunta: What color options are available for Dow Corning 795?

Respuesta: Dow Corning 795 is available in several colors, including gray, black, and clear. These color options allow you to choose a sealant that best matches the aesthetic of your building materials or design scheme. Gray is popular for its ability to blend with various surfaces, especially in commercial and industrial applications, providing a professional appearance.
  • Pregunta: How should I apply Dow Corning 795 for the best results?

Respuesta: To apply Dow Corning 795 for optimal results, first ensure that the surfaces are clean, dry, and free from debris. Use a caulking gun to apply the sealant evenly into the joint or gap. Smooth the sealant with a tool or finger to ensure even coverage and adhesion. Following these steps will enhance the bond and create a watertight seal ideal for your project.
  • Pregunta: Can I use Dow Corning 795 on wet surfaces?

Respuesta: Using Dow Corning 795 on wet surfaces is not recommended as it requires clean, dry conditions for proper adhesion. Moisture can inhibit the sealant's ability to bond effectively, potentially leading to performance issues down the line. Ensure most surfaces are dry, allowing for optimal performance and durability of the seal.
