Shawscope Vol 4 [Limited Edition] [Blu-ray]

The release of Shawscope Vol 4 has generated a diverse range of responses among Consumers, reflecting a mixture of excitement and disappointment. While some fans have embraced the collection's focus on horror and sci-fi—areas that have been less explored in previous box sets—there remains a contingent of supporters who long for the quintessential martial arts films that the Shaw Brothers are famed for. The collection showcases a balance of light-hearted films like "Inframan" alongside more extreme offerings such as "Seeding of a Ghost," emphasizing the significant variety within the Hong Kong cinema landscape. Many customers have expressed enthusiasm for the selection, particularly those who have an affinity for the horror genre, celebrating Arrow Films’ initiative to spotlight these less mainstream titles. One enthusiastic reviewer noted that this compilation offers a long-awaited opportunity to enjoy genre films that have previously been sidelined. On the contrary, there are critiques regarding the direction of the Shawscope series. Some reviewers have expressed disbelief that the focus shifted from classic martial arts films to horror, arguing that there are still plenty of martial arts titles left untapped. This sentiment is punctuated by contrasts drawn to earlier volumes, particularly lamenting the unavailability of other classic Shaw Brothers films in favor of this new compilation. Overall, Shawscope Vol 4 has successfully ignited debate among collectors, promising a unique viewing experience for fans of genre cinema while simultaneously alienating some traditionalists who cherish the classic martial arts narratives of previous collections. **
